During the past year Anastasia Beletskaya studied the International Master in Graphic Design at L’Idem Barcelona. And, currently, she is working as Internal Communication Junior Advisor at Nestlé.
Since February 2020 our alumni have joined the Communication Department of the largest food and beverage company in the world, working as Internal Communication Junior Advisor. “I built a good foundation at L’Idem”, he explained to us. “And at Nestlé I can raise it much higher.” Today we share our alumni’s storie in the Design sector.
Can you explain us how you came to work at Nestlé?
The internships are a mandatory part that we had to complete during our studies at L’Idem. Browsing LinkedIn, I saw that Nestlé was looking for students with design and marketing skills. And it seemed to me that it was something I should request. I passed the first stage of reviewing my portfolio and CV. And in the personal interview, they told me that the vacancy was a full-time position. As I was still studying at L’Idem in February, I couldn’t combine my studies with a full-time internship. And at Nestlé they couldn’t offer me a part-time option, so they rejected my candidacy. But a few weeks later they contacted me again to say they were interested in my profile. So we agreed to do my part-time internship while I finished my studies at L’Idem and join full-time at the end. And that’s how in June I started working full time at Nestlé. And I’ve been here for almost a whole year now!
What is your job at Nestlé?
I’ve been lucky enough to work on different projects, so this job never gets boring! They all have a common goal: to improve and create new forms of internal communication. I am creating video demos for different platforms used internally as well as onboarding videos for new members. Develop presentations and one-pagers for Nestlé stakeholders. What also makes me very happy is having the possibility to use my UX / UI skills for platforms and community pages.
Could you explain us a project that you have especially enjoyed working on?
Every year, Nestlé Spain conducts a technology bootcamp for its employees. The event offers information on artificial intelligence, data and analysis, as well as related topics. This year, it was developed electronically through Nestlé’s internal portal. And my job was to help promote the event, in close collaboration with marketing experts. In addition, I recorded and edited presentation videos that were viewed by thousands of people.
From what you learned in school, what is being most useful to you?
Although having the experience of working in real life is something that you cannot achieve within the school, the reproduction of the work environment has been of great help. During our classes, we have carried out real-time projects that have helped me understand how an agency works. When you enter the world of work, you need to adapt to the situation quickly. Because if you fall behind on a project, other departments also have to delay their work.
How is your relationship with the team?
I am lucky to work with amazing people. My co-workers are great professionals, very respectful and kind people. I can not be happier.
How do you value this experience?
I have been working at Nestlé for almost a year and I can clearly see how much I have grown as a person and as a professional. I chose L’Idem because I wanted to gain skills in marketing, motion graphics and UX / UI. I built a good foundation at L’Idem, and at Nestlé I can raise it much higher. Once you step into the world of work, knowledge comes twice as fast. For my part, I must make sure to use it wisely. Also during my studies I fell in love with marketing. So when I had the opportunity to see how professionals in this field work in real life, I began to appreciate this opportunity even more.
How would you describe your time at L’Idem?
In L’Idem I have met incredible people with whom we became very close. I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly the teachers are. They are great professionals who help you with anything, even if it has nothing to do with class assignments. I also highly value the opportunity to work with a real client under the teacher’s supervision. I never had this opportunity at my previous university, so for me personally it is a very good thing to highlight.
In closing, we look to the future. Where and in what position would you like to be working in the next few years?
I always said that one of the reasons I came to L’Idem was because of UX / UI. Now I’m sure I really love it. So in five years I would like to become a UX / UI designer, with the possibility of using my marketing skills in a large technology or commercial company. I never wanted to work in a creative studio. In fact, this is one of the reasons why I enjoy working at Nestlé so much.
