COMPREHENSIVE ARTISTIC TRAINING

L’Idem is one of the founding members of the French Network of Animation Schools (RECA) and is included in the group of large schools that contribute to the success of animated film in France. This type of animation has contributed greatly to the significance of the creative dimension of this line of work.

Following this philosophy, L’Idem proposes an academic programme that puts great emphasis on artistic training, guaranteeing the creative progress of its students, thus giving them the possibility to access a future in distinguished jobs with great responsibility.

The curriculum stands apart for its large number of artistic courses:

  • Anatomic Drawing
  • Live Model Drawing
  • Film Culture
  • Character Design
  • Concept Design
  • Modelling
  • Conventional Techniques: Watercolours, Oils, Gouache, etc.
  • Rough
  • Storyboard
  • Photography

SOLID TECHNICAL TRAINING

A good 2D/3D animator must have absolute mastery over the primary computer programs used by the leading animation studios.

The advantage of our teaching method in this area is that before teaching our students how to use this software at an expert level, they are given a wide range of knowledge about the environment and challenges of at 2D/3D production. This way, they will have the autonomy and tools necessary to successfully tackle any future technological or computing advances.

Once the environment has been well-defined, the teaching team transmits the experience they have acquired throughout their vast professional careers in distinguished projects such as Avatar by James Cameron or Harry Potter by Chris Columbus, and more. This is how the students learn the workflows used in the animation industry.

Technical training is based on learning eight computer programs:

  • Nuke
  • 3D Studio Max
  • Toon Boom
  • Maya
  • Unity
  • Final Cut
  • Premiere
  • After Effects
  • Photoshop
