February is the month of art in the country’s capital. With ARCO as the protagonist, the city fills up with inspiring proposals that put all the lights on the most outstanding creators of the national and international scene, an unmissable event for art lovers.
ARCOmadrid is the International Contemporary Art Fair of Madrid. One of the main contemporary art fairs on the international circuit. This year it has once again presented a careful selection of national and international galleries, both in the General Programme and in the sections Dialogues, curated by Agustín Pérez-Rubio and Lucia Sanromán; Opening, curated by Tiago de Abreu Pinto and Övül ö. Durmusoglu and It’s Just a Matter of Time curated by Alejandro Cesarco, Mason Leaver-Yap and Manuel Segade in the Discursive Programme.
ARCO has become a meeting point in which this year more than 90 thousand visitors have participated, an approximate of 1,350 artists distributed in 209 galleries and more than 500 collectors and professionals of the sector.
The proposals are not agglomerated in a single fair, officially there are 10 fairs that are held the same week in the city. Art Madrid, JustMad, Drawing Room, Urvanity, Hybrid and ARROW are the most consolidated with more particular proposals focused on drawing, young art, urban and even art made exclusively by women.
Artistic creativity takes over the city and you can find visual installations, urban artists, sculptures and even performance just walking through its streets. If you are an art lover we highly recommend you to consider visiting Madrid next year to be part of one of the many events that make the city become for a few days one of the most important points in the world for contemporary art.
