Former basketball player Kobe Bryant died with his daughter last Sunday in an unfortunate helicopter crash. Kobe, besides being a famous NBA player, won an Oscar for producing, writing and starring in ‘Dear Basketball’ in 2018.

Dear Basketball’ tells the story of Bryant himself and his love of basketball through his voice in a moving letter he wrote months before his retirement.
The letter was originally posted on The Players Tribune website when he announced his retirement in 2015 but it wasn’t until 2017 that Kobe partnered with Glen Kane to produce the short film with a soundtrack by John Williams.

Dear Basketball’ tells the story of a boy who plays sock hopping in his room, and dreams of becoming a professional player as well as one of the NBA champions.

Kobe had a successful life in which he won 2 Olympic gold medals, 5 NBA rings, 2 NBA finals MVPs and an Oscar. Basketball fans will forever remember him as a legend.

Here’s the short film we share with you.
