The connection with our environment is a priority for L’Idem Barcelona. On the one hand, to keep abreast of the latest developments and needs of constantly evolving industries and, thus, to keep our academic proposal up to date. On the other hand, to promote the integration of our students into the labour market, either in the form of internships or as a first job. In this sense, the school has begun to collaborate with the project “Dissenyem comerç” promoted by the Regidoria de Turisme i Indústries creatives together with the Regidoria de Comerç, Mercats, Règim Interior i Hisenda and promoted by the Disseny Hub Barcelona and Barcelona Activa. It invites educational centres in the fields of the creative industries and the city’s commercial hubs to co-create projects to promote local commerce in Barcelona.
Design In Times Of Crisis
The transformative power of design, visual arts, architecture and audiovisuals is undeniable. And in this project our students will use it to promote neighbourhood commerce in La Prosperitat (Nou Barris). Together with the local commercial fabric, over a period of three months – from April to July 2021 – they will draw up proposals to reactivate and promote local commerce in order to face the challenges of the present. According to Pablo García, coordinator of the Design area of our school, participating in this project is “key to putting into real practice the skills acquired by our students throughout their training“. And the uniqueness of this project is precisely to offer innovative solutions to the problems faced by local businesses in a context of extreme difficulty: the crisis generated and accentuated by the pandemic.
