Film adaptation project: Storyboard for Animators

In the Storyboard course, our teacher Antonio Santamaría has proposed to our 3rd year Animation students the adaptation of a comic to the cinema. A complex work in which each student has freely chosen one or more sequences from a comic and adapted them to the cinematographic format. Both a comic and a movie share the goal of telling a story to a reader or viewer. The main difference between both media is the format in which they do it. In the case of a comic, this story is more flexible and dynamic. In the case of a film, the composition of the story is careful, both in sound, dialogue and music. According to Antonio Santamaría this third-year pre-production exercise is “the prelude to the animation work that students will carry out next year for the end-of-studies short film”.

Today we share the work of our students from the Concept Art specialties, Markel Ramos; and 2D Animation, Júlia Blasi, Guillem Vallhonorat and Sara Valenzuela.

Mr. Higgins, by Júlia Blasi

Our 2D animation student Júlia Blasi has made an impressive proposal based on “Mr. Higgins comes home”. A comic book by the writer Mike Mignola illustrated by the artist Warwick Johnson-Cadwell.

Mr. Higgins, by Markel Ramos
