On his first official trip to Barcelona on the occasion of the Smart City Expo World Congress, the French Ambassador to Spain, M. Jean-Michel Casa, visited L’Idem. Christine Rey and Pierre Roca, general directors of our school, have received the representative and highest diplomatic authority of France in Spain. During his visit to the district of innovation and creativity in Barcelona, the French Ambassador in Spain has been accompanied by the French consul in Catalonia, Cyril Piquemal.
The reason for the visit of the french ambassador has been the celebration of a meeting to learn about the French business and technological ecosystem in the city. The event has been organized by the French Tech, Business France and the Consulat Général de France à Barcelona. And it has analyzed the problems and future perspectives around the concept of “Smart City”. In addition, three cases of business success with a French label have beeen presented during the event: Yego, Worldsensing and Abuzz Solutions.
Yego presents its electric bikes for Barcelona
L’Idem has hosted the presentation of Yego’s new vehicle for Barcelona: electric bicycles. The company currently offers a motorcycle sharing service in the city, which is used by 18,000 monthly users. And by the beginning of December 2019 it will expand its services with a fleet of 200 electric bicycles. Yego expects similar results in terms of usability for this new means of transport.
Worldsensing: solutions for smart cities
Technological start up pioneer in the world. Worldsensing proposes solutions to cities to manage the problems they face on a daily basis. Its mission is to revolutionize the way in which traditional cities and industries manage operations to improve their inhabitants lives. In Barcelona, Worldsensing has collaborated in the management of bus traffic around the Sagrada Família. This project has allowed improving mobility and reducing pollution in the area.
Abuzz connects people & cities
Australian company that offers navigation services in shopping centers to improve the customer experience. Its digital kiosks provide information about the city’s services, in terms of mobility, meteorology, entertainment and events, among others. And they become an essential means of local interaction to connect people with their place of residence.
What is French Tech?
L’Idem Creative Arts School and Toulouse Business School Barcelona and Epitech have joined forces to create French Tech Talents. An initiative that aims to enhance the training of young people in the skills required by new market trends; to accompany companies to settle in Barcelona, as well as to favor networking and the creation of synergies between companies and future workers.

The event was born with the objective of empowering cities and collectivizing urban innovation throughout the world. Through the promotion of social innovation, the event aims to create a better future for cities and their inhabitants. In addition, it also seeks to enhance synergies in the sector, as well as identify business opportunities. Smart City Expo World Congress will take place from November 19 to 21, at the Gran Via campus in Fira Barcelona.
