Last year Animation students of L’Idem and those of Esmuc’s Film Scoring and Music for Audiovisual Master’s degree will work together on a creative project. During this academic year, they will join their talents to build audiovisual pieces with a good interaction between image and music. Given the good results of the four previous collaborations, L’Idem and Esmuc renew their collaboration agreement for the fifth consecutive year.
A co-creation project
The collaboration project between L’Idem and Esmuc will consist of the creation of two audiovisual pieces. Distributed by mixed teams, students from both schools will work remotely with the aim of creating their final study projects. This work will be carried out from December 2020 to June 2021. On the one hand, the students of our school will create two animation short films, one in 2D and the other in 3D. Reproducing the environment of a real Animation studio, they will work as a team and put into practice the knowledge, techniques and skills acquired throughout their training. On the other hand, Esmuc students will compose a unique soundtrack for each short film. The result of this collaboration will be two newly created Animation short films.
This week our 4th year Animation students have coordinated the first work meeting with the Esmuc students. In a streaming meeting, our students have presented in depth the details of the two end-of-year projects. After explaining the script for each proposal, they have shown in detail the storyboards, animatics, graphic bibles, character design and the scenarios of their projects. From here, ESMUC students will begin to compose the soundtrack for each short film.
The motivation of the students of L’Idem and Esmuc with this initiative has become palpable. “After today’s meeting we have verified that Esmuc is as involved as we are in this project,” explained Mauricio Negreira, a final year student of the 2D Animation specialty at L’Idem. “We are looking forward to starting working with them.” “For a project there is nothing more stimulating than having proactive people, with a positive attitude and a high degree of involvement”, added Roger Bosque, a final year student of the 3D Generalist specialty at our school. According to Òscar Gamell, Managing Director of L’Idem Barcelona, the meeting with Esmuc has been very positive. “Participants from both schools have made very valuable contributions about the specific needs of the shared project,” he commented. Without a doubt, this information will help them to work efficiently on the project.
