Since 1994 Barcelona has been home to the Sonar, one of the most important electronic music festivals in the world with a particular characteristic that sets it apart from the rest: combining the playful with the artistic through Sonar +D the International Congress on the digital transformation of the creative industries to promote talent, the exchange of knowledge and business opportunities.
Sonar +D is always an opportunity for experimentation, a space that allows people to touch technology and understand it in a casual way. In the words of the organisers: “For thousands of professionals and enthusiasts from over a hundred countries, Sónar+D is a unique and inspirational environment, open and relaxed, where they can discover groundbreaking projects and find business opportunities, acquire new skills, network and showcase their initiatives. There are four very intense days, full of conferences, demos and workshops, live performances, tech shows and exhibitions, immersive experiences, individual mentoring meetings and community meetings, among other activities.”
This year the event surprises with a trip to the moon creation of Laurie Andersony the Taiwanese Hsin-Chien Huang, who through virtual reality glasses create a surprising journey on the lunar terrain. Another attraction of this edition is undoubtedly the installation of a 360 dome, a fulldome 19 meters in diameter that allows attendees to enjoy inverse audiovisual creations proposed by the studio Mediapro where they will project proposals of international artists from Japan, Colombia, Spain or Germany.
Among the avant-garde technological experiences is the first projector that transforms any room or space into an immersive experience created by the Catalan company Broomx. It projects 360º videos on three walls and ceiling and turns them into the sea or a concert. They are already selling it to hotels, museums, educational centres and even therapies in hospitals for Alzheimer’s patients.
Sonar +D is the most technological and academic part of the festival that counts with almost 6000 accredited professionals, an approximate of 3000 participating companies, more than 27 conferences and a number of technological audiovisual experiences that turn it into one of the unforgettable events of the summer.
