THE LION KING IS THE BIGGEST BLOCKBUSTER ANIMATED FILM IN HISTORY.

By 14 August 2019 No Comments

Disney has discovered that its remakes are a gold mine, its latest productions seek to attract the public through melancholy and the proposal of a “new cinema” created through the use of cutting-edge technology. The Lion King has been the latest release of Mickey Mouse’s house and has not left anyone indifferent, since its release continues to reap success.

The feature film has become in less than a month the highest grossing animated film in history, surpassing Frozen and raising more than 1,339 million dollars worldwide. The title that tells the story of Simba’s adventures only took two weekends to overcome the $1 billion barrier. It was the fifth film to do so in 2019, after Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, Aladdin and Spider-Man: Away from Home.

Although there is a controversy because Disney does not define it as an animated film but as a Live Action, there is only one frame in the feature film that has not been created by computer so technically, although the characters and scenarios seem real, we are facing a film that has been completely animated by computers.

In Spain, with five million spectators and 29 million euros in takings, The Lion King becomes the biggest blockbuster film so far this year.

We have only one month left in the summer and it will be difficult to take the throne away from Simba at the box office, as he has already left behind Toy Story 4 and Spider-Man. Little is left to the feature film to also put the crown as the most box-office film of all summers, in front of it are still Jurassic World, with $1,671 million dollars and Marvel’s The Avengers, with $1,518 million dollars worldwide box office.
