Today, design is one of the most valued professions in companies in all sectors of activity. Moreover, it has branched out to create specialists in all its fields. Nowadays, its importance is fundamental in all the companies and services we know. Today we will talk about Web Design, one of the specialities that our Digital Design students work on throughout their training at L’Idem.
Web design refers to the overall look and feel of a website. It is the process of planning and building the elements of a website, from the structure and layout to the images, colours, fonts and graphics. It has numerous components that work together to create the final website experience, including:
- Graphic design.
- User experience design.
- Interface design.
- Search engine optimisation (SEO).
- And content creation.
All of these elements together determine how a website looks, feels and functions on different devices.
Web design is different from web development, which is the actual coding (programming) that makes a website work. When building a website, you need both web design and web development. Although you can find web designers who are also web and UX developers, they are different skill sets.
What does a web designer do?
A web designer creates functional websites and designs all the elements it will contain. This professional must have a highly trained aesthetic eye. He/she will be in charge of organising and distributing elements in order to communicates as a whole. that respects the style guidelines defined by the brand and that adapts to the different sizes of devices that exist in the market.
